ELECTIONS. A few days before the vote, Louis Dandenault draws a positive assessment of Alliance Sutton's latest election campaign, the team seeking a second consecutive term on November 5th.
"[The campaign] went well, the voters' response is good," says Dandenault. Most people are happy with our work, despite difficult projects such as renovating City Hall and renovating Goyette-Hill Park."
Despite these impressive projects, the outgoing administration prides itself on maintaining an annual budget of around $10 million for the entire term of office.
The outgoing mayor still hears about the mid-term dispute over the issue of zoning and subdivision changes.
"Not all voters agree with our position, but we explain our position, we answer questions. The procedures are considered lengthy and there has been sufficient consultation. The exchanges remain cordial and constructive", he describes.
He said he took note of some of the reproaches addressed to his administration, including the lack of transparency and communication. "Yes, we hear the citizens on that. On the other hand, to hire a communications specialist, it generates costs. So we are trying to improve, while respecting the budget. "
Among the priority issues that his team will look into if it comes to power is the establishment of a high-speed Internet connection, in collaboration with the MRC Brome-Missisquoi. Talks with the SQ and the MTQ will continue to strengthen road safety.
Alliance Sutton will also want to revisit the downtown parking issue and put an environmental fund on the rails.
"When we add the experience in municipal politics of everyone on the team, it gives 75 years," says Mr. Dandenault. Then people will evaluate our work during the vote, but we trust they will do it positively. "
