2. Your electoral district
More Info1. How Many Votes do you have
The big news is that you have two votes, not seven as in past elections.
- You vote for two people - the mayor and only one councilor who represents your electoral district.
- Everyone votes for the mayor.
- You no longer may vote for all six councilors.
- You and only people in your district vote for the councilor for your district.
- Who do you want to be mayor?
- Who do you want to be councilor for your district?
- There are six districts, each with about the same population.
- Each district has one councilor.
- Candidates are not required to live in the district they wish to represent.
- The map shows the number for your district.
- For greater precision, here’s a list of districts with their streets and addresses street by street listing .
3. The candidates
There are 14 candidates.
- Seven are running as a political party or slate, Alliance Sutton. Alliance Sutton won the mayor’s position and all six councilor positions in the last election in 2013. Five members of that council seek a second term. Stepping down are councilors Verle Beljaars and Serge Poirier.
- Seven candidates are running as independents who oppose Alliance Sutton
- Most of Québec’s 1,100+municipal councils have only independent members with no political parties or slates. In our region, these include Granby, Cowansville, Bromont, Lac Brome.

- Louis Dandeneault of Alliance Sutton, mayor for the past four years, previously a real estate agent

The web site is the brilliant work of the newly formed Demain Sutton Autrement movement.
