Lowell resident Bill Harm is one of the public access boat greeters at Lake Eden. A greeter is on staff in Eden 12 hours a day, seven days a week to prevent non-native invasive species from spreading to the lake.

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department and the Lake Champlain Basin Program say anglers and boaters need to take steps to prevent the spread of Spiny Water Fleas. Officials say the fleas are dangerous to Lake Champlain because they compete with other lake species for food. The Lake Champlain Basin Program says the best way to stop them is to let them dry out completely if you find them on your fishing gear or boat.
