The Sûreté du Québec has launched an investigation into MNA Pierre Paradis, who has been ejected from the provincial cabinet and the Liberal caucus ... Radio-Canada reported the investigation centres on “inappropriate gestures” involving an employee ... Before he entered politics, Paradis was known as “the pig farmer’s friend” because, as a lawyer in the Eastern Townships, he defended accused agricultural polluters.

Chronology of events
Jan. 27 — Couillard tells reporters at a news conference in Montreal that Paradis was sidelined Wednesday because of the letter, not the concussion.
Jan. 26 — The SQ confirms it is opening a formal investigation into Paradis, who is promptly dropped from cabinet and the Liberal caucus.
Jan. 25 — In a statement, the premier’s office announces that Paradis is leaving his duties temporarily. When asked why, the office transfers calls over to Paradis’ team, who tells media Paradis fell off a horse and suffered a mild concussion.
Jan. 24 — The premier’s office receives a letter from the alleged victim, with details about the complaint.
Jan. 19 — The premier’s chief of staff, Jean-Louis Dufresne, is alerted by police to a complaint lodged against Pierre Paradis, the minister of agriculture.
