Information Meeting, Mount Foster  Development project 8 September, 2018
Citizens for a rural West Bolton - 3 Sep 20118
On September 8, at 10:00 a.m., at the West Bolton Town Hall, Appalachian Corridor will hold an information session with the citizens of West Bolton and of St-Étienne regarding the development project on Mount Foster. There will be a presentation of the conservation areas negotiated as a result of the many discussions in recent months between the environmental group and the developer.

The information available at this time indicates that there are very few changes to the concept plan presented in May 2017. This concept plan had aroused strong reactions from the citizens present at this meeting.

The meeting of September 8 is not convened by the municipality even if it supports its holding. It is not in any way a formal consultation of the project as promised by the municipal Council.

Several aspects of the current project do not respect municipal bylaws and those of the MRC:
  • Subdivision of land for building purposes in steep slopes
  • Extension of roads outside urban perimeters
  • Number of houses greater than 11
  • Non-compliance with the minimum size of lots at high altitude (30 000 m2)
The municipal Council committed last November to study the project and consult with the public. It alone has the competence and responsibility to ensure compliance with the bylaws in the interests of all citizens. After several months of study, it is time for the Council to make its decision known, which we hope will put a harmonious end to this long-lasting saga.

Have a nice day
